Echuca Boat and Canoe Hire is located next to the Victoria Park Boat Ramp on the Murray River behind the Echuca City Caravan Park at the Northern end of Echuca. We are 205 kilometres north of Melbourne, an easy 2.5 to 3 hours drive.

How to find us

It is easy to find us; just enter Echuca Boat & Canoe Hire into Google Maps.  Alternately, if you don't have access to a GPS, head north on High Street in Echuca Victoria, keep in the left lane, 2nd exit north through the round-about at McDonalds, continue north past the Port of Echuca Precinct, then 2nd exit again throught the round-about at the top of the Port of Echuca Precinct, then left at the ' T ' intersection, then turn right onto scenic drive past the Henry Hopwood Memorial keeping the Echuca Caravan Park on your right, follow the road around to the Victoria Park Boat Ramp.  We are located north of the Echuca Caravan Park to the right and upstream of the Victoria Park Boat Ramp.

About the Murray River

The Murray River rises near Mt Kosciusko at an altitude of 2230 meters above sea level, and flows approximately 2560 kilometres to the sea at Goolwa near Adelaide. We are located at the 1711 Km mark on the Murray River.

The average rainfall over the Murray Basin is 430mm compared with an average of about 1270mm in the Tennessee Valley, USA.

The river forms the border between the states of Victoria and New South Wales with the river being actually a part of New South Wales.

Millewa / Barmah Forest

Just upstream from Echuca is the Millewa / Barmah forest, a total area of 65,000 hectares. Combined, these forests make up the single largest stand of River Red Gum anywhere in Australia or the world.

If you travel through the forests by river the distance covered would be more than 100 kilometres. This makes an ideal river for canoeists especially for those who like to get away from it all.

We can organise self guided canoe trips (Campanoeing) to suit individuals or large groups of up to 60 persons or more. If you have a large group or have a trip idea, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

We operate all year round but the best times are in the warmer months from October to May.
